Southwest Alaska
Wild company. Front-row wonder.
At Brooks Falls, the river is both a gathering place and a stage. Water moves around broad shoulders, a head lifts, and a seemingly still scene becomes a whole story. The photograph here catches bear 856 at the falls.
That unhurried presence is part of what we love about Alaska's wild places. It also finds its way into our bear illustrations: a little imposing, wonderfully individual, and absolutely the main character.
